Next stop, Greece.

One of the quickest ways to learn a place is through its food. The third chapter: Greece — white architecture, clear water, and a cuisine that tells you exactly where you are.

Whitewashed Cycladic walls with soft blue shutters and a glimpse of clear Aegean sea beyond, warm muted sunlight

One of the quickest ways to learn of a new place or destination is to partake in the culinary scene and visit those shops and restaurants off the beaten path. There are apps and travel channels solely dedicated to unique food experiences that you can only hope to visit — places that delve into the rich flavors and spices that generations pass down and share with the world.

Traditions that allow an outsider to understand the passion and dedication that went into every single bite. I enjoy learning of places through the palate and trying new creations that would not typically be tried growing up in the West. As far back as the early tribes that traded spices, metals, and cloth, others were allowed to experience the riches of what the land and its people had to offer. Land trade turned into sea trade, and some of the most treasured items we enjoy today can be traced back to the innovation of early times.

It is astounding to think of how everyday products we all use originated in different countries and were shared amongst others. These social connections are what bring us together when the geography separates us.

White walls and clear water

When I think of the white architecture, clear blue waters, and vibrant flora and fauna, Greece comes to mind. Fresh food from the land and sea, and sun-drenched beaches with fine sand to stroll and frolic. On the southern tip of the Balkans, Greece is a country among thousands of islands to explore for its Mediterranean climate.

Islands and ruins

You can experience Santorini's hot springs and beaches, or go back in time for sightseeing in Athens — architectural greatness and awe-inspiring ruins. Ready to dance the night away in Mykonos at nightclubs that attract the beats of DJs spinning their tunes, or even take a sail to Delos, the island none other than the birthplace of the Greek god Apollo himself.

Gorges and lagoons

Greece offers up many boating excursions to indulge in the many islands. Grab your hiking boots and sack to explore the Samaria Gorge, or partake in the stunning clear waters of Balos Lagoon by ferry.

The many beaches, historical topography, and mind-blowing cuisine are just the tip of the iceberg in one of Europe's most enchanting destinations.

These social connections are what bring us together when the geography separates us.

Until our next stop.
